BNZ trims mortgage rates again
The BNZ is making further cuts to its home loan rates.
The cut has brought fixed rates down by 4 to 20 basis points, with the most notable decrease observed in long-term fixed rates.
This adjustment follows the Reserve Bank's decision on August 14 to lower the official cash rate, which led to a decrease in wholesale rates. Following the Reserve Bank's rate change, some banks promptly reduced their lending rates, and BNZ Bank has now joined this trend.
The bank’s most popular 18-month fixed rate has been revised to 5.99%, while the 2-year fixed rate is now set at 5.89%. Additionally, following a rate reduction on August 20, BNZ has also ceased imposing higher rates on first-time homebuyers and borrowers with smaller deposits.
This rate cut is seen as part of BNZ’s strategy to stimulate the housing market and provide more favorable conditions for borrowers.

이번 인하로 고정금리는 4~20bp 내려갔으며, 특히 장기 고정금리의 하락 폭이 가장 두드러졌다.
이번 조치는 8월 14일 중앙은행의 공식 현금금리 인하 결정에 따른 결과로, 도매금리가 하락하면서 이어진 것이다. 중앙은행의 금리 조정 이후 일부 은행들은 대출금리를 인하했으며, 그 뒤를 BNZ 은행도 따랐다.
현재 BNZ 은행에서 가장 많이 이용되는 18개월 고정 금리는 5.99%로 조정되었고, 2년 고정 금리는 5.89%로 설정되었다. 또한, 이 은행은 8월 20일 주택 대출 금리 인하에 이어 첫 주택 구매자와 보증금이 적은 대출자들에 대한 높은 금리 부과를 중단했다.
이번 금리 인하 조치는 주택 시장의 활성화와 대출자들에게 보다 유리한 조건을 제공하기 위한 BNZ 은행의 전략으로 풀이된다.
