Tesla Opens Supercharger Stations in New Zealand's Electric Vehicle Market
Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has opened Supercharger stations targeting non-Tesla electric vehicles at six locations in New Zealand. This news was reported by Electrive on the 29th.
The areas targeted for this opening include Rotorua (6 charging stations), New Plymouth (3 charging stations), Christchurch (4 charging stations), Timaru (6 charging stations), and Queenstown (4 charging stations).
Currently, Tesla's pilot program has already opened 17 charging stations in the United States and Canada, with services available in over 20 countries worldwide, including 15 European countries, Australia, and China.
Non-Tesla owners in New Zealand may face insurance premiums about 20% higher than Tesla vehicle owners, but joining the Tesla Charging Membership allows for discounted fees.
The charging stations in New Zealand are equipped with European-introduced NACS and CCS connectors, rather than the CCS1 adapter with Magic Dock used in the United States and Canada.
