Kiwi Banks and BNZ Reduce Mortgage Rates in Line with RBNZ Expectations
Financial markets are shifting in response to the expectations set by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ). Following ASB's recent move, Kiwi Banks and BNZ have also lowered their mortgage rates.
BNZ has decreased its 6-month and 1-year fixed rates by 5 to 10 basis points each, down to 7.24% and 7.14%, respectively.
Kiwi Banks have lowered their 6-month fixed rate by 10 basis points, with special rates reduced to 7.25% and standard rates to 8.25%. The special 1-year rate has dropped by approximately 25 basis points to 6.99%, while the standard 1-year rate is down to 7.99%.
Additionally, Kiwi Banks have made slight reductions of 5 to 10 basis points on some term deposit rates. Term deposits over $10,000 now yield 5.90% for 1 year, while those under yield 5.80%.
These movements align with expectations regarding future policy changes from the central bank. According to a survey commissioned by the RBNZ, inflation is anticipated to decrease more than expected, hinting at the possibility of further rate cuts.
Satish Ranchhod, Senior Economist at Westpac, expects these survey results to validate the efficacy of the central bank's policies, though he predicts that inflation will remain robust.
Next week, the RBNZ will review the Official Cash Rate (OCR), which is currently anticipated to remain at 5.5%.

또한, 키위뱅크는 일부 정기예금 금리도 5~10 bp 인하했다. 10,000달러 이상의 1년 정기예금 금리는 5.90%, 그 이하는 5.80%이다.
이러한 움직임은 중앙은행의 향후 정책 변화에 대한 예상과 함께 나타났다. 중앙은행(RBNZ)이 의뢰한 조사에 따르면, 인플레이션은 예상보다 낮아질 것으로 전망되며, 이는 금리 인하 가능성을 시사한다.
웨스트팩의 사티시 랜치호드 수석 경제학자는 이러한 조사 결과가 중앙은행의 정책 효과를 입증할 것으로 기대하지만, 실제로 인플레이션은 여전히 강하게 유지될 것이라고 밝혔다.
다음 주에 중앙은행(RBNZ)은 OCR을 검토하며, 현재로서는 5.5%로 유지될 것으로 예상된다.
