New Zealand's household net worth has shown a slight increase after 6 quarters, sending positive signals to the economy. According to data from the Statistics Bureau, household net worth in the September quarter of last year recorded a 0.2% increase from the previous quarter, reaching $53 billion. This increase is attributed primarily to the rising real estate values of homeowners and landholders.
Household net worth is a key indicator influenced significantly by real estate values, and this rise reflects the appreciation in real estate values of households owning properties such as homes and land. Particularly noteworthy is the economic turnaround as household net worth, which had been declining by an average of 1.4% per quarter over the previous 6 quarters, turned positive.
In the September quarter, non-financial assets, including buildings and land, increased after 6 quarters, recording a growth of $2.3 billion. Household financial assets also showed an increase of $5.3 billion in the September quarter, contrasting with declines in the previous two quarters. Within this, cash and deposits increased by $4.2 billion, and stocks saw a growth of $2.7 billion.
However, among financial assets, insurance and pension assets experienced a decrease of $1.6 billion, indicating some reduction in this sector. This marks the first instance of a decrease in pension assets since the June quarter of 2022.
While total household net worth is on the rise, in the September quarter, loans (debts) also increased by $2.3 billion, primarily due to the growth in mortgage loans. As the New Zealand economy steadily recovers, the stability of household finances is emphasized.

그러나 금융 자산 중에서는 보험 및 연금 자산이 16억 달러 감소하면서 이 부문에서는 일부 감소가 있었다. 이는 연금 자산이 2022년 6월 분기 이후 처음으로 감소한 사례로 기록되었다.
총 가계 순자산이 상승하는 한편, 9월 분기에는 대출(부채)도 23억 달러 증가했는데, 이는 주로 주택담보대출의 증가에 기인한 것으로 나타났다. 뉴질랜드 경제가 순조롭게 회복되는 가운데 가계 경제의 안정성이 강조되고 있다.
