Vietnamese Prime Minister, During Official Visit to New Zealand, Solicits Investment and Collaboration from New Zealand Companies
The Vietnamese Prime Minister, currently on an official visit to New Zealand, has met with New Zealand businesses, urging them to invest and engage in ventures within Vietnam.
Prime Minister Jin of Vietnam made this appeal during his meetings with Simon Bridges, Chairperson of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, and executives from leading New Zealand companies. Bridges highlighted the keen interest New Zealand companies have shown in Vietnam's development over the past two decades, emphasizing the abundant investment and business opportunities in Vietnam, along with the existence of successful projects. He added that New Zealand companies have been actively evaluating Vietnam's environment and investment potential, and are collaborating enthusiastically with the Vietnamese government and businesses.
Bridges particularly expressed the hope that the Vietnamese government would create favorable conditions for investment and business in various sectors, including renewable energy, real estate, aviation, as well as fruit and vegetable import-export.
In response, Prime Minister Jin welcomed companies currently investing in Vietnam, assuring them that Vietnam is fostering favorable conditions for effective and sustainable business operations, while always striving to protect investors' legitimate rights and interests.
He described the relationship between Vietnam and New Zealand as highly positive and evolving across all sectors, noting their memberships in regional agreements such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA), and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The Prime Minister emphasized that these agreements provide an important foundation for enhancing investment cooperation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister identified all areas where New Zealand companies express interest in investing and collaborating with Vietnam as priority areas for Vietnam's development potential. He requested continued cooperation between New Zealand companies and Vietnam to undertake specific projects. He highlighted Vietnam's initiatives in energy transition, its significant potential in wind and solar power generation, the need for infrastructure development in industrial zones in many regions, the necessity for Vietnam to import some agricultural products from New Zealand, and plans to export fruits and agricultural products to New Zealand.
Finally, Prime Minister Jin addressed the suspension of air routes between Vietnam and New Zealand. He pointed out the substantial presence of thousands of New Zealanders engaged in business, living, and studying in Vietnam, coupled with the popularity of New Zealand tourism in Vietnam. He emphasized the need for both countries to reach agreements to improve visa policies. He also noted the increasing demand for travel and cargo transportation between the two countries, suggesting that fully resuming direct flights would present an excellent opportunity.

뉴질랜드를 공식 방문 중인 베트남 총리가 뉴질랜드 기업인들을 만나 베트남 내 투자와 사업 추진을 요청했다.
베트남 총리인 찐은 오클랜드 사이먼 브리지스 상공회의소장과 뉴질랜드 대표 기업 경영진들을 만나 이같이 밝혔다. 이어서 브리지스 소장은 뉴질랜드 기업들이 지난 20년 동안 베트남의 발전을 주목해왔다며 베트남에는 다양한 투자 및 사업 기회가 많고, 이미 성공적인 프로젝트들이 존재한다고 강조했다. 또한 뉴질랜드 기업들이 베트남의 환경과 투자 잠재력을 높이 평가하여 베트남 정부 및 기업과 적극적으로 협력하고 있다고 덧붙였다.
브리지스 소장은 특히 베트남 정부가 재생 에너지, 부동산, 항공, 그리고 과일 및 채소 수출입 등 다양한 분야에서 투자하고 사업할 수 있는 여건을 조성해 주기를 바란다고 말했다.
이에 찐 총리는 베트남에 투자하고 있는 기업들을 환영하며, 베트남은 투자자들이 효과적이고 지속 가능한 사업을 이룰 수 있도록 유리한 조건을 조성하고 있으며, 항상 투자자의 합법적인 권리와 이익을 보호하기 위해 최선을 다하고 있다고 강조했다.
베트남과 뉴질랜드 간의 관계는 모든 분야에서 매우 긍정적으로 발전하고 있으며, 양국은 지역포괄적경제동반자협정(RCEP), 아세안-호주-뉴질랜드 무역협정(AANZFTA), 포괄적·점진적 환태평양경제동반자협정(CPTPP)에 가입해왔다고 설명했다. 총리는 이것이 양국 기업의 투자 협력 증진을 위한 중요한 기반임을 강조했다.
총리는 뉴질랜드 기업이 베트남 투자에 관심을 갖고 협력하는 분야는 모두 베트남의 우선순위 영역이자 개발 잠재력이라고 언급하면서 뉴질랜드 기업이 베트남과 지속 협력하여 특정 프로젝트를 수행할 것을 요청했다. 특히 베트남은 에너지 전환을 추진하고 있으며 풍력, 태양광 발전 잠재력이 크고, 많은 지역에서 산업 단지 인프라 개발과 뉴질랜드에서 일부 농수산물을 수입해야 할 필요성, 뉴질랜드에 필요한 과일 및 농산물을 수출하고자 하는 계획이 있다고 총리는 전했다.
마지막으로 찐 총리는 베트남과 뉴질랜드 간 항공 노선이 중단된 상황에 대해서도 언급했다. 그는 베트남에는 뉴질랜드에서 사업, 생활 및 공부하는 수천명의 사람이 있고 뉴질랜드 관광도 인기가 높기 때문에 양국 모두 비자 정책을 개선하기 위한 합의가 필요하다고 밝혔다. 또한 양국 간 여행 및 물품 운송 수요가 증가하고 있으므로 직항편을 완전히 재개하는 것은 좋은 기회가 될 것이라고 전했다.
