New Zealand authorities have decided to uphold the 20% tax rebate policy applied to domestic game development companies, as reported by the UK gaming industry publication GameIndustry on the 5th. With this decision, New Zealand intends to continue this policy that was initiated in October of last year to support game development firms.
Since promising a 20% tax rebate to game developers in October of last year, New Zealand has faced criticism from some quarters for allegedly granting preferential treatment to corporations. However, New Zealand's Minister for Technology, Judith Collins, defended the policy, stating, "The Minister of Finance, the Prime Minister, and myself all support this system."
