In addition, in April of last year, former Prime Minister Hepkins and Prime Minister Albanese enacted new immigration laws allowing New Zealand citizens to obtain Australian citizenship. It is reported that more than 41,000 New Zealanders applied for Australian citizenship from July to December 15, and almost 3,700 acquired citizenship.
