Senior Economist Kelvin Davidson forecasted, "We expect rates to stabilize around 5.5% for now," noting, "However, the direction we've been heading for the past two years is within the range of 5-6%."

As uncertainty looms over New Zealand's economic outlook, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand aims to remain cautious for the time being. However, leading economists are closely monitoring economic changes until the gap between expectations and reality regarding mortgage rates narrows.

In this regard, Olsen stated, "A slight decrease in inflation is expected in 2025."
