Back-to-Back Earthquakes Strike New Zealand's South Island
According to GeoNet, New Zealand's geological agency, a powerful magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the northern part of the South Island, 45 kilometers from Geraldine, at 9:14 a.m. on the 19th.
The earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers, and local media reported tremors were felt in several cities across the South Island, including Christchurch. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or property damage so far.
In addition, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) announced that a magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred on the western side of the South Island, 43 kilometers from Methven, on the night of the 18th at 21:14:49 GMT.
The quake's epicenter was measured at a provisional depth of 11.7 kilometers, with coordinates of 43.71 degrees south latitude and 171.12 degrees east longitude."

이 지진의 진앙 깊이는 10km로, 남섬의 크라이스트처치를 포함한 여러 도시에서도 진동을 느꼈다고 현지 언론이 보도했다. 다행히 아직까지는 생명이나 재산 피해는 보고되지 않았다.
또한, 미국지질조사국(USGS)은 남섬 메스벤 서쪽 43km 지점에서 18일 밤(21시 14분 49초 GMT)에 규모 5.6의 지진이 발생했다고 발표했다.
이 지진의 진앙 깊이는 11.7km로, 위치는 남위 43.71도 동경 171.12도로 잠정 측정되었다.
