New Zealand Faces Decrease in Chinese Exports
New Zealand's exports to China, which had reached a substantial annual value of $19.7 billion until September, are showing a recent decline. According to the latest trade trends data from the Statistics Bureau, New Zealand's exports to China accounted for 27% of the total annual goods exports until September, amounting to $70.4 billion, but these figures have been on a downward trend since May.
However, when compared to the situation in September 2013, it is evident that New Zealand's share of exports to China has significantly increased. At that time, the share of exports to China was $8.3 billion, accounting for 18% of the total goods exports of $46 billion, but now this share has considerably risen, with exports to China steadily growing over the past decade.
Moreover, out of the top 15 product categories in annual exports until September this year, seven major export destinations are in China. Statistics Bureau officials have emphasized China's significance as a major export market in the food and forestry sectors.
In the machinery and equipment sector, including agricultural machinery and equipment, Australia and the United States dominate the market, accounting for a substantial portion of the $2.4 billion in exports. In wine exports, which reached $2.3 billion until September, the United States stands out as a key market.
Conversely, the export of aluminum and related products, amounting to $1.6 billion, primarily finds its major market in Japan, while the electric machinery and equipment sector, with exports of $1.5 billion, is chiefly led by the United States and Australia.
Exports of optical, medical, and measuring equipment increased during the pandemic, reaching $1.2 billion until September this year, with the United States prominently featured as a key market.
뉴질랜드, 중국 수출 규모 감소에 직면
뉴질랜드의 중국 수출은 지난 9월까지 연간 197억 달러에 이르는 상당한 규모를 기록했으나, 최근 수출 규모가 줄어들고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
통계국의 최신 무역 동향 자료에 따르면, 중국으로의 뉴질랜드 수출은 9월까지 연간 총 상품 수출액 중 704억 달러의 27%를 차지했지만, 이러한 수출액은 5월부터 감소세를 보이고 있다.
그러나 2013년 9월까지의 상황과 비교하면 뉴질랜드의 대중국 수출 비중은 크게 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 당시 대중국 수출 비중은 전체 상품 수출액 중 460억 달러의 18%에 해당하는 83억 달러였는데, 이제는 이 비중이 훨씬 높아지고 있으며, 지난 10년 동안 대중국으로의 수출 규모는 꾸준히 증가했다.

농업용 기계 및 장비를 포함한 기계 및 장비 부문에서는 24억 달러에 달하는 수출액 중 호주와 미국이 주요 시장을 차지하며, 9월까지 23억 달러에 이르는 와인 수출에서는 미국이 주요 시장으로 돋보였다.
반면에, 16억 달러에 이르는 알루미늄 및 관련 제품의 수출은 일본이 주요 시장이었고, 전기 기계 및 장비 수출은 15억 달러의 수출액을 기록하며 미국과 호주가 주요 시장을 형성했다.
팬데믹 기간 동안 수출액이 높아진 광학, 의료 및 측정 장비 수출은 올해 9월까지 연간 12억 달러를 기록하였으며, 주요 시장으로는 미국이 두드러졌다.
