New Zealand Financial Market Anticipates Faster Interest Rate Decline
In New Zealand's financial market, interest rates are projected to decrease more rapidly than previously anticipated. Approximately three interest rate cuts are expected in the mid-next year.
Gareth Kiernan, Senior Analyst at Infometrics, stated, "In examining the sustainability of inflation in recent weeks, there have been signs of psychological shifts." He also mentioned, "Considering the wholesale interest rate trends from May to October, it appears that global inflation is easing faster than feared."
Chris Tennent-Brown, Chief Economist at ASB Bank, analyzed, "Over the past month, long-term bond yields and swap rates have experienced significant declines." He added, "Expectations of central banks raising interest rates again have diminished. Similar situations are unfolding in the international financial markets, with growing confidence that central bank policy rates have peaked."
He further elaborated, "Considering our central bank's outlook and the current situation, the likelihood of mortgage rate increases has diminished in the past few months."
The central bank is set to update the benchmark interest rate next week, along with announcing monetary policies, including indicators of the direction of interest rates. Last week, ANZ Bank revised its forecast, stating that the benchmark rate would be maintained at 5.5%, while Westpac remains the only major bank still anticipating the need for additional increases.

그는 "우리 중앙은행의 전망과 현재 상황을 고려하면, 모기지 상승 가능성이 최근 몇 달 동안 줄어들었다"고 덧붙였다.
다음 주에는 중앙은행이 기준금리 업데이트와 함께 통화정책 발표를 예정하고 있다. ANZ은행은 지난 주에 기준금리를 5.5%로 유지할 것으로 전망했으며, Westpac은 여전히 추가 인상이 필요하다고 보고 있다.
